Make room for the wiser, healthier, and happier you in
2008! As you start to make positive
changes, do some homework to ensure your success:
1) Identify
negative patterns of thinking that do not serve you. They not only damage your self-esteem but
also ultimately limit your potential. However,
changing your habits of thinking is easier said than done. The first step is becoming aware of these
negative mindsets and how they impact your life. Next, replace each negative thought with a
positive one that empowers you. At
first, you might feel silly being your own cheerleader, but revising your
outlook and self-perception will allow you to reach your goals and beyond.
2) Reflect
regularly. Strive to always act with
intention instead of getting caught up in old habits and what is considered the
norm. Periodically, as in more than once
a year, check in with your goals and reignite your focus by recalling the
reasons for your actions, potential gains, and faith that you will succeed.
3) Be
fearless. Change, both good and bad, can
shake us out of our comfort zone. We
instinctively recognize this and can be held back if the natural fear of change
is not dealt with. Anticipating and
consciously accepting potential changes to your interpersonal relationships,
financial situation, environment, etc. will provide an extra impetus for
accomplishing your goals.
